AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands, IBC Stand 7.440 (September 9, 2000)- Interactive Effects, Inc., developers of high end software for film and video, today announced the release of the Piranha Visual Effects system for the Silicon Graphics® Octane2™ visual workstation at IBC 2000.

Piranha, an online compositing, editing and paint box solution for film and video, makes special use of the Octane2 system's advanced frame buffer, texturing capabilities, and 48-bit RGBA, to deliver highly interactive hardware effects on the new platform.

"Piranha 3.3 takes advantage of the industry-leading performance and features of the Octane2 visual workstation, such as advanced texture management and deep pixel resolution, to deliver a higher level of editing and compositing performance."

Users can now manage film scans and large 4K plates on an Octane2 system, which was not previously possible on a desktop system. They can get the color precision they need without an additional software rendering step. Interactive Effects will be demonstrating the capabilities of the PiranhaHD and PiranhaEDIT as a special presentation in SGI Stand 440, located in Hall 7, at the IBC conference, September 8-12 in Amsterdam.
